My name is Catherine Hornby and I am a journalist, translator and English teacher who has spent more than seven years in Italy. After more than ten years working as a reporter around Europe (for Reuters news agency, The Local news website and Italian financial daily Il Sole 24 Ore), I am now also offering my language and writing experience to Italian clients to help them promote their ideas effectively in English and deliver their message to as wide an audience as possible.
I translate for ItalyEurope24, the international site of Il Sole 24 Ore, which is the country’s oldest newspaper still in circulation, covering business, politics and trends in the Italian arts, culture, fashion and football world. I also work for independent clients at institutions including Italy's economy ministry, the country's largest power company Enel, the Italian branch of British retailer Accessorize, Sky Italia, France's embassy to Italy and Rome hospital Policlinico Umberto I, among others.
I have experience in academic translations for professors and students in fields ranging from psychology to biochemistry, and I am helping Italian hotels, food producers, fashion designers and artisans to present themselves professionally in English so that they can stand out from the competition.
Given my training and background in high calibre journalism, I can offer top quality translation, transcreation and proofreading of English content. I am now based in the Cambridge area and I also offer English lessons and advice via Skype. If you would like to get in touch please contact me at:-
